Picnic TACO BAR fixings along with beverages and table settings will be provided by the Committee.

Along with ‘make-your-own’ tacos, there will be appetizers, salads & desserts.

Come and join us for a relaxing evening of food and fellowship.

PROGRAM:

Nora Stransky: Quilter/Instructor/Designer/Author/Pattern Designer. Nora began sewing in 4-H when she was 9 and has been creating sewn treasures ever since. After graduation from UWSP in 1972, she even hung out her shingle and did professional tailoring including making wedding dresses and formal gowns. Her sister Mary convinced her to hang up her deer hunting rifle in 1987 and put her sewing skills into quilting. She has been hooked ever since! Nora had taken numerous classes, been a member of several quilt guilds but by 2011, she wanted more. With a leap of faith, and no prior retail experience, she opened Antoinette’s Quilt Shop in Plover, WI. Within a short time, she was on the board of the Wisconsin State Quilt Shop Hop Committee. She also organized and taught several classes. She soon realized it was fun to create patterns – she loves math – and even designed her own Mystery Block of the Month called Nora’s Mystery. She and her husband, Denny, created the four different sizes of large ironing board tops and took them to many quilt shows over the years. Nora sold the store in 2020 after her husband died. She continued to work at the store for the new owner until it closed. If you haven’t seen one of Nora’s quilts, you may have seen her projects made with vintage linens such as hankies, doilies, embroidered pillowcases and other vintage treasures. She believes they shouldn’t be hidden in the cedar chest, or worse yet, a “plastic prison”. Her passion for creating memories becomes evident in her book, From My Mother’s House, where she gives you all sorts of helpful ideas.
